We were hired by Joyofandroid.com – One of the World’s fastest rising and prominent android websites, with content which focuses on how to’s and app reviews. The site receives over 800,000 visitors per month, and we were tasked with heading up link building and content marketing strategy using natural, white hat methods.
Some takeaways from the campaign since starting:
- 25% increase in total referring domains
- 60+ natural links in 40 days
Strategy – Content Marketing
The client wanted to use an extremely pure method of link building, getting natural links based on the quality of our content. This is our bread and butter, but we always ensure the content is good enough first. So basically, your content had better be pretty awesome for someone to go out of their way and link to you.
How do we create awesome content?
Fortunately, Joyofandroid have amazing content, so we didn’t need to brainstorm any ideas, we just had to take the best content and figure out a way to get links with it.
Let’s take one piece we promoted and see what makes it so good – “How to Fix 11 Common Google Home Problems”
So we have awesome content, now what?
Well, now we need to figure out who we contact. For this project, I decided we would take a simple but effective approach and target the following:
- People who reviewed Google Home
- People who linked to reviews of Google Home
- People who just linked to Google Home (the actual website)
Here’s a sample of sites we targeted (we targeted hundreds)…
I’m not going to reveal our actual outreach strategy and email templates, but I will show you how sites reacted positively.
Here’s some typically successful responses…
This best part about the vast majority of these links? We managed to persuade editors to add our links to existing pieces of excellent content. From our point of view, the effort to win links was very low compared to some other methods of link building.
Before – Number of referring domains
After – Number of referring domains
